I'm starting to realize that certain kinds of attacks are systemic and come from the spiritual middle classes who do not like to observe deviations of any sort from their standards of normality. Even very effective adaptations will attract negative names from those who feel threatened by any implicit question raised against the necessity of their standards of normality.
Such folk, who come from the spiritual middle, assume that embracing their standards of convention leads to happiness and that those of us who do not embrace their values are struggling to conform. It must seem as if we all want to conform only, and that we invite hardships by not being able to do so. In fact, being alive in all one's faculties is much better than conforming, but this aliveness often expressed itself unconventionally or even ironically, which means it will be misunderstood as a lament regarding one's inability to be more conventional.
You can tell who is of the spiritual middle class by the degree to which they take your independence and spiritedness as a cry for help or lamentation.
