It's very similar to the predicament of the artist or the Dionysian philosopher. Personally, I've had to work on unravelling knots created by very broad historical forces. I did feel like I would only be promised release if I accomplished my mission, which was not related directly to myself, but to addressing these historically binding issues. So first I had to release Marechera from the underworld and then release my father from the underworld. Right now, I seem to be in a sanctified state. I knew, immediately after I finished the latest version of my memoir that "the spirits" were finally satisfied -- although that is very hard to explain in any rational terms.
