Are you taking the chocolate?





 
On the issue of naivete and misperceiving reality, I think there are a number of sources of naivete, not all of them the same.  My father's embrace of Christianity conforms to that paradigm of a drive to misperceive reality in order to cope with it.  In my case, my naivete came from having a different set of cultural constructs and not being actively brought up and taught what was potentially dangerous by my parents.   Certainly, cultural and historical causes of psychological traits are rarely ever noted by most people.
