I think the middle-brow disposition makes the assumption that one simply has to be in a relationship with the student, that somehow this relationship between student and teacher is primal and never comes to an end. Therefore the person at the student end of the equation demands more and more satisfaction and pleasure, expecting that the teacher cannot refuse because they are compulsively driven to form a relationship with the student and to teach.
