Out of habit or training, the patriarch sabotages the very part of the mind of the other that could be of most use to him -- he attacks "feeling" (the limbic system, aka. the paleomammalian brain, which is seductively in his thrall). That is the part of ones brain that has been most in training (due to social conditioning, which imparts a certain idealistic delusion) to view the patriarch as having any kind of worth.
His strategy necessarily has the opposite kind of effect to what he may have intended. Instead of reinforcing his authority, he undermines it.
It is as if he said: "I would like you to treat me in a rude and perfunctory manner, without any sense of implicit reverence for anyone or anything."
The contemporary revengeful man takes great strides to diminish the male historical credit, and helps his gender to lose its aura.
