On another level, the whole realm of identity politics is a narcissists' playground. The perpetrators create their identities by taking away from others' identities, especially those who have guilt-ridden characteristics. The guilt some people feel about their identities is exploited with an ever-increasing refinement and narrowness until you would certainly split a hair. What people who play into this game do not realize is that their reparations and mea culpas will never, ever be enough, because that is the fundamental nature of the game. It's not to get recognition for historical wrongs done, but to create suffering and pain in others for the sake of a feeling of moral superiority.
