On patriarchal texts and humor
It seems that when people become benighted with patriarchal ideology, they think that women are genuinely hysterical and/or hare-brained, and that we attempt to reify these states in the texts we produce -- which was basically Dawkin's critique of Irigaray. In reality, she is mocking a very pompous patriarch with her texts. So the joke is on the audience, which doesn't know what it's supposed to be laughing at. Same with my memoir.
