Facing death: the shamanistic means to freedom

This video makes use of an interesting metaphor: that of livestock captivity. Human beings are bred and enslaved for productivity in the same way as animals are farmed. It misses the mark a bit in implying that the government is also out to get you. Rather, watch out for those who can make a buck out of you by making you into a conformist slave by means of your fear of death.

Although the video does not mention this, the fear of death is expressed in those systems of religion and morality that make us feel that we can elude the worst experiences by punishing ourselves through self denial. A trade-off with the universe -- whereby I suffer and the universe responds by sympathizing with my ascetic sacrifice -- is actually impossible.

Better to face the reality that death will get you ultimately, no matter what you do.
