The fantasy of a social contract may be the worst thing about Rousseau. It gives little trolls the notion that they can come up to me and say, “I piss on your idea of honor, but you still have to engage with me,, because we have a social contract.”
I have obligations in the abstract? Really? In relation to those who do not disguise their hostility toward my ideas and feelings?
Through the process of maturity I seem to have debunked such a crude formulation.
