It is about moving from a moral framework, with imaginary postulates, to a realistic framework -- let us say a humanist one, with very different postulates. Because you are operating within a moral framework, along with one or two others that have commented on this thread, you don't see that it is not about denying that any particular group of people are deserving of something. Rather, the notion of "deserving" no longer applies, because a more rational framework replaces it.
