identity politicians -- a contemporary scourge

I find those who embrace identity politics are generally intellectually and emotionally lazy. They want other people to solve their problems for them, and they try to get this to happen by making others feel guilty, so that we will rush around and offer them support or nurture their always tender feelings. They've learned to use emotional blackmail to get their interests served, rather than using effort of their own.

This is a fantastic quote. I'm stealing it.

I'm amazed how easy it is to short circuit somebody like this. They are used to the world stopping and devoting full attention to them when they act out like a toddler. I prefer to let them cry in a corner. "Ignore them or bring them on board," as the labor organizer once said.

On the one side, people need to develop their defensive skills, so they become properly aware of how they're being manipulated. There is nothing more common than a failure of defensive skills. Indeed, we tell people, "don't be 'defensive'", as if walking around without any defenses was a brilliant idea.

Secondly, these people who use identity politics to emotionally blackmail people need to be exposed and humiliated.
