Since some of these psychopaths and Ns have been created or are tier 2 as some people mention, it seems to verify that they entered into a social contract of some type. They form a type of fascist or communist society but it is imposed on people who are not in their group. If these systems were for everyone, although probably strict, the people like the psychopath or the narcissist would stick out like a sore thumb and it would be obvious they are trying to gain power for powers sake in these systems. In these so called free systems of the west, the N and P can hide out and impose regulations on outsiders for the sake of their advancement by using their network of card carrying members. Some of these political systems could work if there was no real hierarchy, but the P and N would find some other game or trick to make a ranking system to gain status.

Yes, it is linked to power plays for sure. Narcissism seems to be the capacity to play power games to the exclusion of authenticity. What has happened nowadays, probably as a result of the proliferation of narcissists, is that nobody believes it is possible to combine power with authenticity. It ought to be possible -- and to the degree that there are still educators who educate, and political leaders who lead, we can see that the two have not become uncoupled. But this is getting more and more rare, mostly because people nowadays automatically associate having power with inauthenticity. By forcing this misalignment, they give more potential power to narcs and psychopaths, I think, because these are always able to come up with some ad hoc games.
