A mystic is only good when....

....mysticism has become unfashionable...when everything has been turned into a presumptuous positivist enterprise, with scientism or crude empiricism the order of the day.  Only at that point can we dare embrace a from of redemptive mysticism.  Otherwise it is anathema.

Similarly in a world turned to nuttery, one must indeed retain a purposeful allegiance to science and its capacity to measure reality down to its  infinitesimal particles.

Always retain the opposite to that which popular morality embraces, as this will give you the best chance for growth.
