misogyny and domestic violence

+Jennifer Armstrong You'll like her site for sure. : )
+Narcissist Free I saw here site and actually there is not much new there for me, although it is very good she is putting out the word. I have been telling people about patriarchal structures now for twenty years. My view is that if you are not experiencing direct patriarchal domination, you may feel the world to be very egalitarian and free. No doubt things are really changing over time. At the same time, if you do happen to be one of the unlucky ones who has a very aggressive misogynist man living with you, this seems to call up people's atavistic tendencies in response to the situation. I have found that just by virtue of describing the situation, more people start to make misogynistic murmurings, and the force of energy leads them to side with the oppressor. This siding with the oppressor takes place within modernity, despite the fact that generally there is a much higher level of egalitarianism within modernity now than there was within antiquity (the kind of society my family came from). It's very unfortunate, then, that by articulating the nature of the situation, one makes it worse.
