I think many in the west believe anyone combining love + power is acting patriarchal or at least, thats how the believe patriarchs justified themselves as, power+love.

Yes I think you are right. That is how they feel about it. But that is because they have subscribed to a religious world view where the world is divided according to gender. So they put themselves on the side of femininity/love, which is actually a useless side to be on, just a being on the side of mindless power without love is also knuckleheaded and stupid.
